News and Updates

Hello Team Moore,

Thursday Folders will be coming home this afternoon, however, they will not have the behavior sheets in them, as I need them to work on report cards. Please take the papers out this afternoon and send the folders back tomorrow like we normally do. I am sending home a flyer with Scholastic Book Fair information. The book fair will take place all week next week. If you are going to send your student in with money for the book fair, please know that we are not going "shopping" as a class. I will send them down in the morning to make their purchases, however, they are responsible for their money. I suggest sending the money in an envelope or Ziploc bag with their name on it.

Next week is conference week, which means that it is early release. Students will be dismissed at 12:20 each day. If your child will be going home a different way than they normally do, please make sure to send in a note with your child. Per school policy I cannot accept transportation changes through email, so please be sure to send a note or contact the front office. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress. I have placed a sticker in your child's agenda (week of 10/14) with your conference day and time as a reminder.

Last week, I sent home field trip permission forms and envelopes. We will be going to the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville on November 13th. If you have not sent the permission form and payment envelope back, please do so as soon as possible. Also, if you are interested in being a chaperone that day, I am allowed one free chaperone. All others will have to pay for their admission. The free chaperone will be first-come, first-served basis. After that, all others are welcome but will have to pay. If you are interested in chaperoning, you will have to drive your own vehicle to the Tellus Museum. Parents will not be allowed on the bus.

One of our 3rd grade math standards is to be fluent in our multiplication facts (0-9) by the end of the year. We have already begun taking daily timed tests (0's and 1's) to get the ball rolling with this standard. Please have your child practice a little each day. I am providing them with flashcards in the classroom. However, you may want to consider providing flashcards for them at home as well. You can print free flashcards from the following website: www.multiplication.com.

Again, I look forward to speaking with you all next week to discuss your wonderful students.

Have a great afternoon,

Miss Moore
