Hello Team Moore,
I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable "Spring Break". I would like to share some important updated information regarding digital learning, grading, and Zoom meetings. Please bare with me, as we go through this together:
Digital Learning (as directed by Cobb County):
Digital Learning will now take place from Monday-Thursday for the remainder of this last quarter.
Fridays should be a day for students to review lessons and content, as well as a day to catch up on any assignments that have not been completed for the week.
I will not be giving any new lessons/activities on Fridays. This will be my day to review student progress to determine what to assign for the next day/week.
Daily "office" hours for me will remain 9:00-10:30 Monday-Friday for any questions you or the students may have.
I have attached the fourth quarter standards that I would be teaching in the classroom to this email for you to use and work on with your student if you so choose.
If you do not have access to a computer or the internet, I have attached a document to give you ideas of what your child can do daily to work on their skills.
Grading (as directed by Cobb County):
Based on my understanding of what we have been given by Cobb County, this is what grades/grading will look like:
Any work that students can complete and turn in through our digital learning platforms can only help their grades, not hurt them. For example, if a student was receiving 1's in a certain content area, the work that they turn in can potentially help bring their grade up. My understanding is the pass/fail will be an overall score, if you will, for how your child did through the whole year, not just this last quarter. If your child does not have access to a computer/the internet, it is my understanding that they will receive their pass/fail based on the first three quarters of this school year.
Zoom Meetings with Miss Moore:
Our first Zoom meeting will be Monday 4/13 at 9:15 am. I will be going over all of the digital learning activities for the day, showing students something new, and reading a chapter from our end of the year read aloud, Fourth Grade Rats by Jerry Spinelli. (use this link to join: https://zoom.us/j/700906610pwd=RFE3WlV4eXZmTU5ZbzB4WTJlalNTQT09)
My goal is to have a Zoom Monday and Wednesdays to read our book, go over new material, and also answer any questions. Friday I will have a Zoom call available if anyone has any questions or needs help with anything. More information to come about the Zoom calls but we will definitely have a call on Monday 4-13 at 9:15.
Of course, if your child cannot join the Zoom call and they have questions about an activity/lesson, please continue to email me or message me through Class Dojo. I am happy to help any way that I can!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
